First and foremost, you want an easily identifiable domain name, something that your audience will remember. Domain names are rather cheap, usually a .COM costs around $10-15/yr.

Once you obtain a domain name you'll need to configure the DNS to match those of your server. You'll need to decide on what type of server your website will require. Depending on what options you decide upon you'll be paying around: $20/month per low-end server & up to $700+/month per high-end server!

Designing the layout/template for your website obviously requires designing skill. If you have little to no experience with designing you can buy a premade template from an established website. This will usually run you about $80 for a low quality template & up to $300+ for a higher quality template.

Using various programming languages you'll need code/structure your template & develop any scripts your website needs! A basic safe-form contact script coded in PHP is about 300 lines of code! Hiring a professional coder can run you at about $40/hour & depending on what kind of scripts you want, there could be a lot of hours under his belt!

SEO, Search Engine Optimization, is a must if you want your clients / customers / fanbase to discover your website!

Social Networking - This new fad is an extremely useful way to connect with the people. Operating a facebook page or twitter account is a great way to present news or specials depending on your business!
